WordPress: Portfolio Website
The portfolios are a graduation requirement for every senior at Old Colony. They represent our journey at this school, and how we progressed from a Freshman to a Senior. My portfolio during my junior year was composed as a website, as per the requirements of a Computer Science student. I designed it to showcase each work separated by the 4 different aspects of my learning. My academic achievements, my shop work, my related work, and my common assessments. This way, anyone who visits my portfolio has easy access to various works, all organized.
This project was slow, and I couldn’t just get it all done in a week. It was a long process of designing, experimenting, and implementing over and over again. I had to learn to be resilient with something I didn’t necessarily enjoy. This wasn’t coding and logic; it was designing and understanding organization. It was a completely different challenge than what I am used to. It was a great opportunity to improve in the skills I lack and don’t focus on as much as programming logic.
I can take away the skills needed to organize my achievements. I know how to take my collection of work and present it in a way that shows me. Appealing to someone in a visual way can be difficult. Knowing how to draw people in and capture their attention, but still be able to provide information in a way that is informative and not wasting your time.
